Constellation of investigatory acts + happenings:
the CENTER for RESEARCH on the POETICS of FLIGHT.
The semi-fictional Center formed in late 2007, expanding from efforts to unpack the complexity of escapist leanings, as evoked by
flight. Initiated by attempts to construct an aircraft modeled after the
Santos-Dumont Demoiselle, the
CENTER later hosted a series of mediated happenings, including
Flying animals and the Marfa Mystery Lights, featuring a presentation by
Stephen Vitiello, and
OffCourse: Interfering|facing with migratory songbirds, featuring a talk by
Dr. Lesley Bulluck, with birding support provided by Jasmin Merida, Dylan Languell, Lesley Williamson, and Kylin Murren.
